Our client in the Telecommunication Infrastructure services is the first and leading regional integrated telecommunications infrastructure services company in Asia. We specialise in end-to-end solutions in the tower services sector including co-locations, build-to-suit, energy, transmission and operations and maintenance (O&M).

They operates and manages a regional portfolio of over 50,000 towers across Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos.

They strives to deliver outstanding performance in telecommunications infrastructure services and solutions. Its state-of-the-art real-time monitoring service, echo, has driven significant improvements in field operations while maximising operational efficiency in battery, energy and fuel consumption for telecommunications infrastructure. Customer Challenge

Client leveraged various vendors to host their applications, but with applications hosted by their vendors posed a great risk for security and availability of the system. They had set out on an internal project to consolidate and improve their infrastructure.

As part of this project, the client leveraged AspireNXT their Managed services provider to deliver vendor consolidation and improve security and Operational efficiency.

Choosing Amazon Web Services

Being an existing customer of AWS and Azure, they evaluated the two provider and decided that AWS would be the most cost-effective solution for their requirement, and that AWS provides all those services at a faster and more efficient way to host their application. The organization undertook the Migration Journey in a phased approach including a complex Replatform of a business application.

To start this journey, the client appointed AspireNXT, an AWS Advanced Partner to Assess, Mobilize and Migrate their Infrastructure to the cloud.

Proposed Solution

AspireNXT, evaluated the vendor applications that were candidates for migration and provided target Architectures for migration. The core system the ALMP had legacy ties and a Rehost strategy was chosen to mitigate various dependencies

The organization had divided the migration into 2 waves:

  • Rehost-1
  • Replatform-2

Additionally, the customer has embedded a Phase in their RoadMap to work with the application vendor toward modernising their ALMP to be more cloud Native and leverage AWS PaaS services.

With the Applications now on AWS, The organizations has higher availability, native Backups, Services Managed by AWS and has opened the doors to innovation and has furthered the adoption of cloud by 20%.
